If you are interested in making money selling things on Ebay (or anywhere else online) read my introduction to selling things on Ebay first.

The main topic of this site is, without a doubt, what to sell on ebay to make money. I have spent the last couple of posts talking about alternatives to Ebay, however I do not want to you to begin to think that there are better options than Ebay for making money with e-commerce. The reason that Ebay is still the king of e-commerce, and will be for the foreseeable future, is because Ebay controls the buying traffic.

The best facet of Ebay is that they get more than a billion monthly page views from people actually looking to buy stuff online. No other online marketplace comes close to this and this is not likely to change anytime soon. So, while it can be good to check out other sites for market research, when it is time to make money, Ebay should still be your primary outlet.

What to Sell on Ebay?

Many people have noticed that nowadays knowing what to sell on ebay is as important as any other factor. Because of the listing and insertion fees that are now a fact of life on Ebay, if you are going to make any significant amount of money, you need to know the best things to sell on ebay. Simply listing items because you can get them cheap is not the answer anymore.

In order to be successful, you will have to focus your efforts on market research and wholesale sourcing. I know that there was a time where anyone could make money on Ebay just by opening a wholesale account with a few of the big players. The problem with that approach is that there are many wholesalers today which are operating essentially as middle men and not true wholesalers. You end up buying so-called wholesale merchandise at such a markup that when you get to the market, your competition is able to undersell you.

The other problem with most wholesalers that work with Ebay sellers is that they provide scanty research tools. Knowing what to sell on Ebay is as important as getting the lowest prices. This is so critical that I will repeat it: Knowing what to sell is as important as getting the lowest price. If you are able to catch a hot market that is underserved you are going to be laughing to the bank while all of your competitors are cannibalizing some overcrowded market like digital cameras.

I have been singing the praises of the only wholesaler that I work with, which is Worldwide Brands, since I started this site in 2008. If you are serious about making money on Ebay, you should check out my take on SaleHoo to see why it is I am recommending it. Also, and this is not in the review, you can now test drive the program with a trial that wasn’t available when I first wrote the review.

I know that I am beating a dead horse, but come on folks. It is market research which teaches you the things to sell on ebay that will make you money. You need to get an edge on the competition and you need to enter markets that are not saturated. The reason I recommend Worldwide Brands is that they have the tools that allow you to list items that WILL sell so that your profit margins stay healthy and your business is able to grow. This is because they have BY FAR the best tools for analyzing markets and seeing where there is demand for items that will allow you to profit. Once you get familiar with the program you will be able to find top products at prices below what you will be able to sell them for. Then it is simply a matter of scaling your efforts using the tools to launch more and more items for sale until you are making real money.

The most important thing that you can do if you want to make money on Ebay is to equip yourself with the tools that will allow you to be successful. And then, once you know what you are doing, you can truly begin to grow your Ebay business to any level imaginable.

If you are interested in making money selling things on Ebay (or anywhere else online) read my introduction to selling things on Ebay first.

Currently is eBay is the biggest player in the online auction and e-commerce game. But things are shifting and these shifts are not necessarily in Ebay’s favor. Though eBay remains a great way to make money — as well as a great place to find great stuff at a great place, many are looking for an eBay alternative.

The reasons for this are several fold. But the number of reason people are looking for alternatives to eBay is that eBay has made several changes in the past couple of years. The most important of these for sellers has been the initiation of new fees for listings. As a seller you will have to pay a fee when you list your item as well as when it sells. If it doesn’t sell, you still owe Ebay for the listing fee.

There are other reasons people are looking else where as well. These include buyers who have grown weary of the old Ebay style of business. Despite the fact that there are well over 100 million eBay users, the company’s growth has slowed and people (both buyers and sellers) are finding new sites to do business.

There have been alternatives to Ebay which have cropped up in the past, Yahoo!Auctions is a good example, but many of these were not successful in part because most everyone was pretty happy at Ebay. Today, many folks are looking elsewhere, so if you are looking for an alternative to sell your products, here are a few of the best options.

eBid
My favorite non-Ebay e-commerce site is the fast-growing eBid for a couple of simple reasons. First, and most importantly, my stuff has sold well there even though it is still a much smaller marketplace than Ebay. But it’s growth quarter over quarter has been phenomenal.

The other reason why Ebid rules is that they do not have any listing fees so your costs will be lower. Some sellers use the lower costs to offer buyers better deals, but most simply pocket the difference and improve their margins. In fact, some people that I know use both eBid and eBay for simultaneous listings and to great effect. But, back to the listings.

On eBid you have the option to enroll to their basic or premium seller structure. As a basic seller you are charged 3% of the selling price per item. As a premium seller you can buy access to the site in chunks for a time. You simply pre-purchase access for a week or a month and can list and sell items during that period. It’s a hassle free way to do business and works for both volume sellers (who work as premium sellers) and smaller sellers (who operate under the basic plan).

But, clearly, the best thing about eBid is that there are not any listing fees. This is huge if you want to test out a market or have some items that you aren’t sure will sell. For this reason, eBid is my number one Ebay alternative.

Another option is netSpray which bills itself as the “Free Online Marketplace.” At netSpray there aren’t really any fees. You don’t face an insertion fee, a service fee, a final value fee or have to subscribe to the site in order to use it. Additionally, you can export your listings via a widget and place them in your own website or blog or on another site such as Facebook or MySpace. You can also include mini-listings of your item in emails if you have a newsletter or are an email marketer.

So those are a couple of options you might consider if you are looking for an ebay alternative. And of course there will always be new e-commerce sites popping up every now and again and I will do by best to keep you appraised of those. But, and here is my final word:

For most people eBay remains the best place to start out. If you are already a powerseller, you have the resources and background to conduct a successfully campaign on another site. However, if you are just looking to learn how to make money with Ebay auctions then eBay remains your best bet. Sure, sign up at eBid and netSpray but focus most of your efforts on Ebay. You can still make a lot of money on eBay if you are willing to learn the game and learn your market. Even in the face of new fees, most people are still doing well on eBay and will continue using the site.

So, hopefully that was useful. Those are my top two ebay alternatives but the list is not all inclusive. But I think those are two solid options to give you something else to look at. The thing about it is, and this is really my last word, if you want to make money on Ebay, you need to get started. The sooner you start and begin learning the better off you will be and the more money you will make. There is no time like the present to build a new financial future for yourself. So, quit reading blogs and go make money online!

If you are interested in making money selling things on Ebay (or anywhere else online) read my introduction to selling things on Ebay first.

A question that I get often concerns how to sell stuff online to make a extra money. Now some people want to sell stuff to make a lot of money, quit there jobs, and marry a supermodel and move to the Bahamas while others just want to sell a few items to supplement their income. Actually, while most people do want to accomplish the first thing, most people are, in actuality, only pursuing the second. Therefore I spend most of my time focusing on how to sell stuff online to make some supplemental income.

So, how can you sell stuff online? Well, in actuality there isn’t that much too it. It can seem like a lot if you are just starting to think about selling online or getting in the e-commerce game, however once you get started you will find that it is quite easy to do. The first thing I think I would decide is where do you want to sell your stuff. I always recommend ebay because it is the largest auction site in the world. The thing about ebay is that they have changed their bylaws recently so that getting started with ebay isn’t as easy as it used to be in the past. For this reason many people have abandoned their ideas of starting an ebay business and have simply thrown up their hands in despair. I believe this is simply a mistake and you need to re-examine your motives for starting an ebay business in the first place. Ask yourself, am I starting an ebay business just to sell stuff online that I don’t need anymore or am I truly trying to start a legitimate business. If you only wanted to sell stuff online to clean out your closet, then you are right, ebay is not the right place for you. Because of ebay’s new rules, the auction giant no longer is the best place to do business if you are looking to deal in small steps. If you just want to do one auction a month then maybe the doubters are correct, ebay is not for you. However, if you want to sell stuff online to add regular income to your bottom line then I think that an ebay business is absolutely the right path for you.

To earn a substantial amount of money by selling stuff online you really need to become an ebay power seller. Simply selling one or two items a month is not going to really add to your bottom line financially. And remember, on Things to Sell on Ebay, we write for people who are looking to significantly improve their finances. So therefore, let’s assume that the reason you want to sell stuff online is to make money, not to simply reduce clutter or clean out your closet. So, then as I have told you, ebay will definitely be for you because ebay is where the traffic is. Each month eBay does billions of dollars worth of transactions and receives billions of page views. You simply can not afford to miss it. Sure, there are other sites where you can list an item, but the real dollars are still made on ebay. Selling stuff on ebay is quite simply the most simple way to make extra money online. Remember though that you are going to need to become a power seller in order to really make your ebay business pay off. So, the question then becomes what are the best things to sell on ebay? And thus you have really gotten to the crux of the matter and the reason that I started this website to begin with. I believe that there is no good reason why you can not sell anything on ebay. Oh sure, there are some things, like cocaine, that you can simply not sell legally on ebay and that is fine. We will take advantage of the literally millions, no make that billions of things to sell on ebay legally. So, where do you find these products? Good question. I believe that there are any number of places to find things to sell on ebay however in order to make serious money and really sell stuff online you need to have sources that are regular and dependable. What I mean by this is that if you find that you have can make $10 by selling something online, say a disposable camera, then the question naturally becomes where do you get more of them at the prices that allow you to make money on ebay?

The answer becomes simple. Find a source where you can buy products at prices less than you will be able to sell them for. I believe that the best way to find these products is by belonging to a wholesale sourcing websites. I have recommended SaleHoo (which I reviewed in another post, click here to read my endorsement of SaleHoo) as the best way to sell stuff online for a proft. Quite simply with SaleHoo you will be able to gain consistent access to the top of the line products at prices that will allow you to resell these products for huge profits. Now a membership to an exclusive club like SaleHoo is not cheap, but it is an outstanding value because of what you get. There are many benefits and features of the membership, but the main thing is that you are able to purchase prices direct from wholesalers who sell at deep discounts. Because of this once you are able to find a transaction that is profitable for you there is no reason that you can not repeat the transaction 10, 20 or even 100 times making a substantial profit each time.

I’m sure you can see the value in that!

If you are interested in making money selling things on Ebay (or anywhere else online) read my introduction to selling things on Ebay first.

It is not that difficult to make money on ebay. If I have one consistent refrain that would be it. I am going to go into detail about selling on ebay but I really feel like it almost is not necessary. In order to make money on ebay you really only need two things. First you need access to products you can sell on ebay that fetch more than they cost you to obtain and second, you need access to research tools that allow you to ascertain what products are selling well and at what price points they will be profitable. That’s really all you need to know to make money on ebay however there are other people who will tell you otherwise.

I have seen so many scammers who are looking to sell you their make money on ebay guide as if there are some major secrets involved in starting an ebay business. I know that I mention this a lot on this site, but I just really believe that it is true: You do not need access to anybody else’s ebay secrets in order to sell something on ebay. What you do need is access to the top products that are selling for top dollar on ebay and you need to have regular access to these products. What I mean by this is you must be able to repeat your results in order to be profitable in your ebay business. For instance, if you have an ipod around the house and you want to sell it in an ebay auction you can place it for sale, complete the transaction and pocket the cash. However, once you have sold the ipod it is gone and you can not continue to sell it.

To be able to make consistent money on ebay you need to have regular access to top of the line products at prices that are lower than what you can sell them for. How is this accomplished. Again, and you may be tired of hearing this, it is not that difficult. In order to make money on ebay you will need to invest a little money into your ebay business but once you do you will be able to profit regularly.

So let’s look into what you will need to spend in order to make money on ebay. First, realize that in order to make a little money on ebay you don’t need to spend a thing. All you need to do is simply list for sale items that you no longer need or use. It doesn’t take a genius (or even any intelligence) to list an item for sale on ebay and then mail it to the winner of your auction. Like I said, when you run out of things to sell on ebay that you have around the house that is when you need another option and to get that option you need to spend money. For readers of Things to Sell on Ebay I have been recommending SaleHoo (read my review here) as the recommended provider of wholesale sources and research. SaleHoo is a great value. Here’s what you get if you join. You will get access to over 8 million wholesale products. This is how you make money on ebay. You get access to a large variety of wholesale products that you can sell for more than you paid for them and you make it repeatable. That’s why the power sellers take advantage of wholesale sources such as SaleHoo and really the only thing that separates the Hobbyists from the professional power sellers. I can’t stress enough that if you want to make money on ebay, you are going to need to have that regular access to wholesale products. There is simply no substitute.

The other thing that you will need to do in order to make money on ebay is to do research into what markets are hot and what products are fetching price-wise in auctions. I have found that this research is really the key to running a successful ebay business. If you are able to figure out what prices products are fetching you are better able to budget and allocate your resources in order to really start to make money on ebay. Now, in case you think that I am simplifying, let me tell you about how not to make money on ebay. First, remember that if you have intelligence and are willing to put in the time there is no reason why you can’t make money on ebay. However these tips might help you make more money on ebay. First, I would advise that you sell higher dollar items. There is nothing wrong with selling VHS tapes. You can make money on ebay selling VHS tapes, just realize that it takes time to package and ship an item. If you are making $1.50 per VHS tape that you sell you probably have realized that you’ll have to do a good bit of volume in order to make money on ebay which in and of it self is not a problem. So let’s say that you are able to sell 100 VHS tapes a day for a pretty good income of $150 a day. The problem comes when its time to ship all those items. If you do not have a substantial staff you will be spending hours a day packaging all those items for shipping. Even if you have a large staff it will take a lot of resources to handle 100 sales a day on ebay. Therefore, consider selling an item that might make you $150 a sale. It could be any number of things, but realize that you can save yourself a lot of administrative hassle, while still being able to make money on ebay by dealing with larger ticket items.

So, that would be my advice on how to make money on ebay. Find the products, do the research, sell the stuff, and repeat. Like I said, it really isn’t that difficult to make money on ebay if you are smart, willing to invest in your business, and willing to research the market.

Ebay wholesale suppliers come in a few different varieties. What every good ebay seller needs is access to the top wholesalers who provide the top things to sell on ebay at regularly low, low prices. This is simply the prerequisite for ebay selling success. But the question that I get is how to find an ebay wholesale source? I am happy to say that the process isn’t really that difficult if you’re willing to spend a little money on your business.

Before I go into the technique to find reliable ebay wholesale sources, let’s take a minute and talk about your business in general. I hear from people all the time who want to make money online in some form or fashion. Some of these people want to sell on ebay while others just want to take an online survey or get paid to write a blog post. It doesn’t really matter how you want to make money. You just want to. Well, the thing that I find really interesting is that people want to make money with ebay and other things and they want to do it for free. People type into search engines, “make money free” all the time, to the tune of thousands of times a month. I really have to ask however if they were serious about making money they would realize that they would have to invest some money and time into their business if they want it to be a success. You are simply not going to stumble across some idea that will make you $10,000 a month and implement that idea quickly and at no cost and then just sit back and collect checks for the rest of your life. The idea that you can do this is just so ridiculous. You will need to invest some time and money into your ebay business to ensure that it succeeds. If you think you will be able to make money on ebay without spending the time and money you are quite simply in for a rude awakening.

Ok, now why do I tell you all of this in an article explaining how to find Ebay wholesale sources? Because in order to be successful finding ebay wholesalers who are reputable, reliable and will make you money you are going to need to invest some time and money. It is that simple. I realize that this may be a tough pill to swallow for many of you. Some of you may be in that “make money free” crowd. If that is you, I would advise you to look into another way to make a living because making money on ebay is not for you. However, if you understand the point that I am trying am make, congrats to your brain power and welcome!

Now to secure top ebay wholesale sources I recommend that you invest in a wholesale directory source subscription. I have been recommending SaleHoo to my readers because I believe they are simply the best in providing ebay wholesale sources that have been verified to potential ebay sellers. SaleHoo makes that connection and then you just have to sit back, relax, order your products and complete your auctions. Now, SaleHoo is a top of the line service for finding ebay wholesale sources. It is not free. In fact it is not particularly cheap, but what it is is invaluable.

With a membership you will get free reign of their powerful tools including research tools and, of course, the wholesale source directory which will connect you to the top wholesalers from around the world from which you can buy products to sell on ebay. Now, some of you may think that $67/year is a bit too expensive. For you, I must remind you that a $67 yearly investment in your business is not a large investment. It is a small investment in your future and not something that you should dread or look down upon. For instance, many ebay sellers are making over $1000 a day using the sources provided in the worldwide brands directory. Do you think that these individuals regret the fact that they invested $300 into a sustainable, profitable ebay business that makes them over $300,000 a year? I think not and there is no reason that you will regret it either.

I have included my review of SaleHoo on this website if you want to read it before you decide if you want to go forward. After all there is no need to make a frivolous purchase even if it is for your ebay business. Make sure that the SaleHoo service is something that you need and will use before you purchase it. That much is just sensible.

If you are interested in making money selling things on Ebay (or anywhere else online) read my introduction to selling things on Ebay first.

A lot of people want to make money on ebay but don’t know the ebay secrets. What are these ebay secrets, you may be asking? Ebay secrets are quite simply knowing what the power sellers know to make money on ebay. Believe me making money on ebay is not all together too difficult once you get the hang of it. It really comes down to two things, which make up the ebay secrets: doing research and getting access to top products at under retail value.

When you get access to wholesale items that you can sell on ebay then you can effectively repeat your success over and over again. If, for instance, you are relying on selling extra items from around the house, you will be out of luck once you have sold everything that you own. However, if you want to truly make money day after day, like an ebay power seller, all that you really need is the access to the products that are fetching top dollar on ebay. You simply list these products for auction, sell them and then repeat the process selling the same item to a different satisfied ebay buyer.

If this sounds too easy, I am here to tell you that it simply is this easy. There are no ebay secrets that you will be required to master. The only thing that you need to do is to get access to the top products and then sell them. However, it does take some research to figure out what the top products to sell on ebay are and what prices they are selling for. You need to do this research because if you don’t know for certain what prices a particular item are fetching on ebay then there is no way to ascertain your profit and ensure it at the same time. However, if you are able to research the issue and discover that a certain product, let’s say a digital camera, is selling on ebay for a particular price, let’s say $100, then you just need to access your wholesale source and see what price you can get the same camera for. If you discover that you can purchase the digital camera wholesale for $70 a unit, then you are okay to proceed.

There isn’t really too much to this ebay secrets thing, is there? But one question remains: How do you get access to top products like digital cameras at wholesale prices? Good question. For this you will need access to a wholesaler. I recommend that you purchase access to a good wholesale directory that will allow you to buy all the best things to sell on ebay at wholesale prices. For this I am recommending SaleHoo because you can easily and effectively gain access to all the top products and then research the marketplace to see what they are selling for on ebay.

I recommend SaleHoo to people who want to sell on ebay for a number of reasons. First SaleHoo verifies all of the wholesalers who are in their wholesale directory. You won’t find any middle men there, instead you will only find legitimate, top shelf, wholesalers who offer the top products at low, low prices and these make the best things to sell on ebay without a doubt. Also, SaleHoo allows you to complete the other piece of the ebay secrets puzzle. With their website you can effectively research what the top selling items are on ebay and how much they are selling for. And that is simply one of the most basic ebay secrets that there is. Do not pay more for a product than you think you will be able to sell it for on ebay. The only way to determine this with any accuracy is to simply ensure it by doing top notch research. That’s why I so whole heartedly recommend SaleHoo.

So, you may be asking, what other ebay secrets are there that I have to learn to make money on ebay. I can say that in my experience there are not a bunch of secrets that you will need to grasp in order to make money on ebay. Just remember that all you have to do is to sell items for more than you paid for them and the best way to do that is to get access to the top items to sell on ebay for the best prices. Then you simply sell them and repeat the process. I know I have been repeating this til I’ll blue in the face, but I truly believe that the only thing that might be holding you back is the fact that you are overcomplicating things, believing that there are in fact, ebay secrets that you need to master in order to be successful making money on ebay. I do not think, nor have I found, that that is the case in reality.

On this site, I discuss the best things to sell on ebay I don’t discuss ebay secrets or power seller secrets or anything like that, because I don’t believe that there really is such a thing. I believe that good solid ebay businesses make money on ebay by doing good solid research and getting access to a wholesaler sourcer like Worldwide Brands. It’s not rocket science people, and for as long as you all believe that there are ebay secrets which you must master in order to make money online then you simply will not be making much money on ebay.

Remember this if nothing else, there is nothing holding you back from making money on ebay. There are no special skills that you must have or other technical requirements. All you need is regular access to top products at wholesale prices that you can resell on ebay. It is not too complicated is it. And remember there really are no such thing as ebay secrets.

If you are interested in making money selling things on Ebay (or anywhere else online) read my introduction to selling things on Ebay first.

According to the latest market research over one million people are now making money through the online auction site eBay. Now many of these people are power sellers making more than one thousand dollars a day on the site. But the vast majority are ordinary people like you that are supplementing their income nicely by selling products on eBay. If you want to beef up your eBay earnings you need access to top of the line items to sell on ebay. That much is clear.

And if you are just starting out in the e-commerce game I am happy to say that I think you’ve made a wise choice. eBay is attractive for all kinds of business minded people because an eBay business is no easy to get started. You don’t need technical skills, you don’t need a great deal of money, nor do you need to invest a great deal of time. In many ways eBay is a perfect platform with which to make money.

Therefore, if you are just starting out and are a business minded person then online auctions at ebay may be the opportunity for you to make significant money in addition to your regular job. And if you start to have success you can always take it to the next level and start to make more money than you are making at your current job — at which point I would suggest that you quit your job.

Now once you understand the basics of ebay, which will take you all of 20 minutes to figure out, then you need to create a business model where you profit repeatedly from the system. To do this you need to have products to sell on ebay because, let’s face it, you are going to run out of things around the house that you might want to sell.

That is the central focus of my blog, I show you where to find things to sell on ebay. We do that all day, 24/7. Right off the bat I can tell you that certain items sell better on ebay than others. For instance, items that are difficult to transport, such as beverages or kitty litter, typically do not sell well. However, items such as electronics, books, fragrances, collectibles, and jewelry typically make excellent sales products. The only question becomes where do you get these items to sell on ebay?

At first it is perfectly acceptable to look around the house for items for your auctions. You likely have many items that you no longer use, or perhaps have never used, and these can fetch you some instant dollars on ebay. You can also use these items to learn the selling process on eBay and figure out how the system works. However at a certain point you will have run through your inventory and you will need a new access point to continue to sell items on eBay.

At this point you have to make a decision. You have to decide if you want to continue to grow your eBay business or if you are satisfied with the success you have attained. Having had a glimpse of your profit potential, I believe that you will want to take things to the next level. That’s what separates the power sellers from the hobbyists on ebay.

At this point, after you have gotten your feet wet, I recommend that you look into getting access to a wholesaler. There are many wholesaler, bulk suppliers and drop shippers who specialize in working with eBay sellers. Unfortunately there are also a lot of scammers in this business who make certain promises that they can never keep or try to get you to send your money to a strange address in China. That’s the problem that sprung up when people started to look specifically for items to sell on ebay. Fly by night operators who had little credibility sprung up and got themselves a webpage and started billing themselves as wholesalers. Because getting access to wholesale sources is the lifeblood of any ebay sellers business the community realized that we had to have a clearing house to make certain that these so-called wholesalers were legitimate.

What happened is that seperate companies, like rating boards, sprung up to rate the quality and price and everything else of each wholesaler that was operating on the internet. And soon another few companies sprung up which created drop ship directories and wholesale sources lists and you paid that company for access to the list and they maintained it and made sure that the wholesalers were legitimate. I think subscribing to one of these lists is the surest way to find items to sell on ebay. I work with SaleHoo and I have an honest SaleHoo review on this site, and I think you should check it out if you want to get into the ebay selling business.

I recommend SaleHoo because they are the best at what they do. Yes the maintain a list of wholesalers and dropshippers but they do so much more than that. They have put together a website that is like a portal for ebay sellers where you can research markets and see what is selling and where the money is. This is such a huge key to succeeding in an e-commerce business. It’s just like anything else. You need to do your research.

Finally, remember that for success in your ebay business you really only need hard work and access to items to sell on ebay that you can count on.

If you are interested in making money selling things on Ebay (or anywhere else online) read my introduction to selling things on Ebay first.

Many people have questions as to what are the best things to sell on ebay. This is understandable as everyone is looking to add a little extra income to their purse each month. And ebay is as good a way to supplement your income as any. In fact some people have become so adept at supplementing their income through ecommerce that they have been able to quit their day jobs and focus on their ebay business full time. For many entrepreneurs that has tremendous allure.

First we need to figure out what are the best things to sell on ebay. In many ways this is not a difficult topic to cover. Remember that certain items are no longer suited to sell on ebay such as ebooks and certain digital products. Also websites and domains are typically not the best things to sell on ebay as they can fetch better prices elsewhere. So what should you sell?

I think that the best things to sell on ebay are the highest quality products that you can get at the best prices. Is that a cop out answer? Let me further illustrate what I am talking about.

In the early days of the online auction site, if you were a retailer that had access to top of the line products at wholesale prices you could make a lot of money on ebay fairly easily. There simply were not that many other ebay sellers who had access to these products at the prices that you had them. However, things have changed a little bit as the market has matured somewhat.

Today, there are several savvy ebay sellers who know how to get products at rock bottom prices. And by the way, when I talk about getting products at rock bottom prices I am not talking about buying junk or knock off brands, I am talking about buying high quality, name brand merchandise at wholesale prices. Just remember that. You can sell the junk and make good money on ebay however your profits will be short lived. There isn’t nearly the market for junk that there is for the genuine article.

The difference that I was alluding to above was the research that you need to do to find the best things to sell on ebay. For you must realize that anyone with a little bit of money behind them can gain access to quality products at wholesale prices, the difference between the power sellers and the amateurs is that the power sellers know how to find markets that are exploding, or underserved or what have you. And once they are able to find the market then they are able to simply hit the ball out of the park.

I know many ebay sellers who have simply found profitable products in under-served markets and, by tapping into these markets, have been able to generate profits upwards of a thousand dollars a day. So the question is two fold. First, how do I get access to the best things to sell on ebay? And then, how can I do the research to find the booming or under served markets in which to serve?

For both of these problems I am recommending the same solution. I use SaleHoo as my sourcer and research head quarters. I have written a review of their service previously on this blog. And I continue to have great faith in their research methodology and ability to provide reliable sources for the best products to sell on ebay.

What kind of products can you find through the SaleHoo wholesale directory? You can literally find any widely distributed retail product that you can imagine. So, naturally, the opportunities for your ebay business are only limited by your imagination. You can find wholesale electronics, designer clothes and accessories, fragrances, collectibles, and much more. What SaleHoo does is connect true wholesalers to ebay sellers or other retailers. SaleHoo doesn’t actually sell any of the products themselves. What they do do is maintain the wholesale directory so that you can always find a reliable, low cost source for the products that you are looking to sell.

But that’s not the best part of the package, I don’t think. My favorite thing about SaleHoo is that they provide the research tools that allow you to determine what the best things to sell on ebay are at any given time. You can check to see how many auctions and what level of interest there is on any given category or product. And because of this you can find the niches that are exploding with action or that are quietly being underserved and then, easily enough, you can find the products you need to get into that niche and start making money.

I think the best things to sell on ebay changes all the time. That’s why having the best research tools really pays off for me. Flexibility is key in the auction game and because of this you need to be nimble and able to change directions when you sense the wind blowing from a different source. And naturally, that’s why I recommend this company, for all the reasons that I have already discussed.

At present, if you are interested, I think that the best things to sell on ebay include apple products, especially the iPhone as well as Star Trek memorabilia and rare books. But remember this will change and that’s why you need to remain flexible.

If you have been alive and alert for the last decade, it is impossible not to have heard the stories of the Ebay millionaires. No, not the early employees or investors in the company’s stock. I am talking about the thousands of people who are Ebay power sellers and make seven figures anor d more simply by selling items for more than they paid for them. Many operators of Ebay businesses now run large offices with employees and software — they’ve developed little business empires of their own. But, this gives me the opportunity to point out TTSOE Maxim #1:

Every person who makes more than $1,000,000 a year selling on Ebay got their start by selling one item to one person.

What I mean to say by this is that everyone who successfully sells items on Ebay, either for a living as an Ebay power seller or simply part time for additional income, started at the same place. They started at square one. So, regardless of how much you know about selling things for profit online or about Ebay or e-commerce, you know at least as much as the very first Ebay sellers who had to figure everything out as they went.

Luckily today selling on Ebay is a more mature business. There are a lot more services that help Ebay sellers make money and there are many more sources information for people who are looking to get started. That doesn’t, on the other hand, mean that it has become easier to make money selling things on Ebay. Oh, no. Quite the opposite. Once the world started to see those first power sellers making eight figures a year out of their homes with, often times, little more than a PC, a telephone, and a paypal account, the field got quite a bit more crowded. But guess what? Today, and next year and the year after that, there will still be sellers who make millions of dollars selling things on Ebay. And there will millions of others who will simply supplement their income as a part time Ebay seller.

There is NO reason you can’t be one of the thousands making money selling things on Ebay

The main thing that has changed over the years, has been the arrival of “support” companies that enable the Ebay sellers, or sellers who sell anywhere online, to continue to make money. These support companies provide tools and resources that allow ordinary people access to top-notch products at wholesale prices (well below retail) that they can turn around and sell (also below retail) for a profit. That’s the beauty of the internet. The buyer gets the item cheaper than they could get it in Target and the seller makes a profit by selling it for more than he/she paid for it.

Back to these “support” companies. In the beginning, a seller had to find a wholesaler that would work with an Ebay seller, negotiate a price, purchase a bulk supply of some item (say Guess blue jeans), store the jeans somewhere, list them for sale on Ebay, and then mail them out to their buyers. But there were a lot of problems. For instance, there was no way for the seller to know if the wholesaler was legit; would they have to order thousands of jeans up front; would the jeans be defective; would the jeans be imitation knock-offs; would the jeans even show up; and if they did, would the seller be able to sell them all; would they be able to fetch a high enough price to make it worth their time and effort to go through all this in the first place?

Today, most of these issues have been erased as verified wholesale sourcing companies, the so-called “support” companies, have sprung to life. For instance, the company that I use and recommend, SaleHoo, is known as the leading wholesale directory online today. But to say it is a directory is to severely undersell it. SaleHoo is a complete source for online sellers that allows them to locate products at below wholesale prices, research the market to see what prices they can get for their items, get live support from an expert staff that can find you pretty much any product being produced at under-retail prices, and learn from the more than 75,000 Ebay sellers who use SaleHoo and participate in their community and forum.

SaleHoo is a must if you want to make money selling things online.

A Closer Look at SaleHoo

SaleHoo offers its subscribers the most in-depth directory of bulk wholesale suppliers, liquidators, drop shippers and direct importers that you will find online — trust me, I’ve tried the so-called competition. The SaleHoo wholesale source directory contains more than 8,000 wholesale suppliers offering more than twelve million items to Ebay sellers. And all, 100 percent, of these sources have been verified legit before they are ever included in the resource.

If you decide to try SaleHoo, you’ll get immediate access to:

Drop Shippers – Suppliers that package, record, and mail items to your buyers. You can order ONE item at a time until you are ready to expand.

Light Bulk Wholesalers – Wholesalers who sell packages of items for under $500.

Large Volume Wholesalers – Once you are ready to buy in bulk, you will enjoy super low costs per unit.

Liquidator Wholesalers – Liquidation auction items.

Instant Import Buys – Import products from countries all around the planet at bargain basement prices and without the red-tape of US Customs.

But, wait, let’s back up for a second.

Maybe this sounds interesting to you as a way to make some extra money. Maybe you could even see yourself developing your business to the point that it is your full time job. Great! I know you are probably excited and you should be. There are millions of people who make money selling online and, in order to join them, all you have to do is to be able to buy goods for less than you can sell them. And with a wholesale source that should be a snap… Right?

This brings us to TTSOE’s Maxim #2

The first rule of selling online is research, research, research. It’s ready, aim, fire. Once that works it’s ready, aim, FIREFIREFIREFIRE!

To succeed it is crucial that you not only obtain access to the best products at the lowest prices, but that you also obtain a comprehensive education to improve efficiency and maximize profits. It can get expensive to get an education on the fly. That’s why SaleHoo has proven to be the best support company for online sellers. They provide you with the education that you need to succeed.

As soon as you sign up you get access to five guides that, on their own, contain enough information to sell for a mint.

SaleHoo’s Education Guides

Discover the ins and outs of dropshipping

How to find profitable products to sell

Shipping and importing for not-quite-dummies

Insider’s guides to your favorite market

With SaleHoo at your fingertips, you won’t be firing in the dark.

Choose Wisely, Friend

First things first: SaleHoo is a bargain! It is $67 a year with a money back guarantee and you can quit at any time no question asked.

But, as I often mention, there are people who are literally gun shy when it comes to making business choices. They are literally afraid that they are going to be ripped off or that there is a better product that is much cheaper and they simply need to find that.

The decision to try SaleHoo is, of course, yours. But, as I am an expert in this area, I will give you a bit of information on the alternatives that are currently available. There are a few sources, which shall remain nameless, that retail for less than SaleHoo. However, these directories are chock full of “middlemen” rather than true wholesalers. Middlemen are markup specialists who buy from items from genuine wholesalers and resell them to retailers (YOU) at an increased price.

These middlemen websites will save you some money on the front end. However, in the long run you’re likely to miss out on the opportunity to profit in the thousands.

The VAST majority of companies that claim to be wholesale directories, charge more than SaleHoo. Some of these companies require thousands of dollars to get started. One competitor requires $300 upfront. But, these competing products are not, in any way, superior to the product that I use at SaleHoo. I’ve tried the others, early in my career, and I settled on SaleHoo because I thought it was the best product. Period.

See For Yourself

If you are not convinced, I invite you to visit the SaleHoo website. Look at the testimonials (under success stories) and take a look at all the features. When you consider what you have to gain monetarily and what you have to lose monetarily… It is a no-brainer.

So, go see for yourself. Join the rest of us in making money selling things on ebay, craigslist, and dozens of other marketplaces.

Lastly:

I make money selling things on ebay, craigslist and many other sites. It can be done. You can make money, you can even make a lot of money, doing this. However, if you think it will be easy or “set it and forget it” then I recommend that you go no farther. You will only succeed with this program if you are willing and able to spend time and devote energy to it. If you treat your online business like an actual business, you won’t be surprised when you start to see “real business” type of money beginning to come in.

But, if you want a get rich quick scheme, this is not it!

To cut to the chase click here for my best money-making advice.

As a result of technology, many avenues are available for business-minded individuals to make money online. One of these time tested methods is selling products on EBay. For over a decade people have been profiting handily on Ebay. The only rule to success being to sell items for more than you paid for them. With this in mind, it naturally follows that those who have access to the best products at the cheapest prices can make the most money through Ebay. So the question becomes where can I find the best products to sell through Ebay?

There are several possibilities here. There is not one best way to source your products. If you wanted to start at the top, you could google “wholesale” and begin negotiating with any of the wholesaling operations that you find at the top of the listings. Unfortunately, this is not the most effective way to find reputable, and reputable is the key word, sources for wholesale products.

The key is to find a directory or list of approved and certified wholesalers offering a wide array of products at the best prices rather than simply trying random wholesalers. Notice that I said “approved and certified.” You want to find companies who are used to dealing with people who resell their merchandise online, specifically through Ebay.

What type of companies am I talking about? These companies fall into four general categories. There are liquidators, light wholesalers, bulk wholesalers, and importers. Each uses a distinct business model, though in reality they all do about the same thing. What they do is allow you to buy merchandise at a wholesale price (read well below retail) allowing you to turn around and sell the same product for a much higher price on Ebay. While this may sound like a hard-to-find arrangement, the fact is that these wholesalers have, for years, been doing just this sort of thing of millions of Ebay powersellers. And, some of these top power sellers have turned this type of business relationship into a net worth of millions of dollars.

So, again we return to our primary question: How do you find reputable wholesalers to enter into business with? There are several websites which sell lists of wholesalers that you can buy from anywhere between $50 and $1000. Sadly, most of these websites operate scam operations. The lists that they sell have not been approved and certified and many are in fact fly by night operations. ). So be careful. In this industry, more than just about any other, you get what you pay for. Expect to shell out at least one hundred dollars for a decent wholesale directory and be prepared to spend a few hundred to get lifetime access to one of the premier wholesaler sites — usually their is a membership fee of about $75/year to belong to a clearing house. So, if you get into the business of making money selling items on Ebay and do so for ten years, your out of pocket will be $750 for the decade. Obviously, since you can easily make that in a jiffy, it is a small cost of doing business that is entirely reasonable for most sellers.

Often when people decide to start selling on ebay they follow the all-too-familiar path. First, once they have decided they’d like a little extra income, they start auctions selling some of the excess items that they already own. They clean out their garages and attics and make a few bucks in the process. At this point, having tasted a little of the Ebay income, they realize that if they only had access to more stuff, more items to sell on ebay, they could make more money. Actually, they realize that they could make a lot more money!

Typically, these folks go on to google something like “wholesaler for ebay” and end up going in on a $1000 order of spanish-language DVD’s or knock-off digital cameras. When their merchandise shows up late and in poor condition (or never shows up at all) they realize that this Ebay business might be a little trickier than they first imagined.

So they take the next step, they try to find a reputable wholesale source that can deliver top-notch products at can’t-beat-em prices. Again, there are a number of competitors. The prices range from a onetime fee of over four figures to a regular membership cost that you must pay every month, year, etc. I’ve toyed with nearly all of these “reputable” wholesale sources and found that there are really only two that have made me money. In fact, the two companies, SaleHoo and Worldwide Brands, pretty much now offer comprehensive services that teach people how to make money on Ebay or any site that sells that stuff. They are huge sites, chock full of information, help, forums with thousands and thousands of users, and professional support staffs that can answer your questions.

Just as a side note: I use and recommend SaleHoo without hesitation. I think, for the money, they are the best value as well as the best product.

If you are just starting to think about making money selling things online, then this can be a lot to take in. That’s because it is! If you are going to have a successful Ebay business, you are going to have to treat it like a business. That means there is going to be a lot of hours of learning and actual work involved!

Most people want instant riches without work. Even me. But if you’re a grown up, you understand that reality doesn’t work that way. The more you put into a project the more that you can get out of it. And the facts are plain: There are people making 8 figures a year selling products online. That didn’t just happen miraculously or by luck. It took a ton of work and determination. But everyone starts at the same point, and that is uncertainty and ignorance. They don’t know what will work, they don’t know what they are capable of, and they don’t want to be scammed.

I try to help people by explaining the process, but the fact is pretty simple. Some people are not cut out to work selling things on ebay. This is because there is risk involved. They have to spend money to get started and things may not turn out the way that they hoped. For people like this, I just advise them to find a steady career in government, say as a teacher, and enjoy their life. There is nothing wrong with making an average salary, and it is critical that a person do something that fits their personality.

For instance, SaleHoo, makes thousands of people thousands of dollars a year. The service costs $67/year with a full money back guarantee and the ability to quit at any time. But that amount of money, $67 a year, represents a huge psychological risk for many people. They are afraid they will ‘lose’ that money. I work online selling products and I don’t have this attitude. I understand that my business has expenses. This just makes sense to me. I spend hundreds of dollars a month on various tools and services. And I don’t think twice about this because it helps me make so much more.

But some people don’t experience risk this way. They want to achieve the same result and incur zero expenses. I am going to have to be the voice of reality here and tell you the truth: It takes money to make money. All businesses have expenses. All of them. The goal is to make a profit, which means that at the end of each month your revenue exceeds your expenses. And there are probably millions of people who run profitable internet businesses. And every single one of these people understand how business works.

But there are billions of people on the planet and most of them do not run their own business. And that’s okay. We need employees! But you need to be honest with yourself and decide which type of person you are. Are you someone who is willing to spend a quarter to make a dollar or are you the type of person who hesitates to risk their quarter, that they might lose money.

Because, honestly, making money selling items on Ebay isn’t rocket science. But if you don’t have the right personality, you’re not going to be successful. That’s okay. But it’s something that you need to become okay with.

So, now that I got that out of my system, let’s carry on with what this site is about: locating what to sell on ebay to make a profit.
