Best things to sell on ebay

If you are interested in making money selling things on Ebay (or anywhere else online) read my introduction to selling things on Ebay first.

Many people have questions as to what are the best things to sell on ebay. This is understandable as everyone is looking to add a little extra income to their purse each month. And ebay is as good a way to supplement your income as any. In fact some people have become so adept at supplementing their income through ecommerce that they have been able to quit their day jobs and focus on their ebay business full time. For many entrepreneurs that has tremendous allure.

First we need to figure out what are the best things to sell on ebay. In many ways this is not a difficult topic to cover. Remember that certain items are no longer suited to sell on ebay such as ebooks and certain digital products. Also websites and domains are typically not the best things to sell on ebay as they can fetch better prices elsewhere. So what should you sell?

I think that the best things to sell on ebay are the highest quality products that you can get at the best prices. Is that a cop out answer? Let me further illustrate what I am talking about.

In the early days of the online auction site, if you were a retailer that had access to top of the line products at wholesale prices you could make a lot of money on ebay fairly easily. There simply were not that many other ebay sellers who had access to these products at the prices that you had them. However, things have changed a little bit as the market has matured somewhat.

Today, there are several savvy ebay sellers who know how to get products at rock bottom prices. And by the way, when I talk about getting products at rock bottom prices I am not talking about buying junk or knock off brands, I am talking about buying high quality, name brand merchandise at wholesale prices. Just remember that. You can sell the junk and make good money on ebay however your profits will be short lived. There isn’t nearly the market for junk that there is for the genuine article.

The difference that I was alluding to above was the research that you need to do to find the best things to sell on ebay. For you must realize that anyone with a little bit of money behind them can gain access to quality products at wholesale prices, the difference between the power sellers and the amateurs is that the power sellers know how to find markets that are exploding, or underserved or what have you. And once they are able to find the market then they are able to simply hit the ball out of the park.

I know many ebay sellers who have simply found profitable products in under-served markets and, by tapping into these markets, have been able to generate profits upwards of a thousand dollars a day. So the question is two fold. First, how do I get access to the best things to sell on ebay? And then, how can I do the research to find the booming or under served markets in which to serve?

For both of these problems I am recommending the same solution. I use SaleHoo as my sourcer and research head quarters. I have written a review of their service previously on this blog. And I continue to have great faith in their research methodology and ability to provide reliable sources for the best products to sell on ebay.

What kind of products can you find through the SaleHoo wholesale directory? You can literally find any widely distributed retail product that you can imagine. So, naturally, the opportunities for your ebay business are only limited by your imagination. You can find wholesale electronics, designer clothes and accessories, fragrances, collectibles, and much more. What SaleHoo does is connect true wholesalers to ebay sellers or other retailers. SaleHoo doesn’t actually sell any of the products themselves. What they do do is maintain the wholesale directory so that you can always find a reliable, low cost source for the products that you are looking to sell.

But that’s not the best part of the package, I don’t think. My favorite thing about SaleHoo is that they provide the research tools that allow you to determine what the best things to sell on ebay are at any given time. You can check to see how many auctions and what level of interest there is on any given category or product. And because of this you can find the niches that are exploding with action or that are quietly being underserved and then, easily enough, you can find the products you need to get into that niche and start making money.

I think the best things to sell on ebay changes all the time. That’s why having the best research tools really pays off for me. Flexibility is key in the auction game and because of this you need to be nimble and able to change directions when you sense the wind blowing from a different source. And naturally, that’s why I recommend this company, for all the reasons that I have already discussed.

At present, if you are interested, I think that the best things to sell on ebay include apple products, especially the iPhone as well as Star Trek memorabilia and rare books. But remember this will change and that’s why you need to remain flexible.

SaleHoo Review From Me to You

If you have been alive and alert for the last decade, it is impossible not to have heard the stories of the Ebay millionaires. No, not the early employees or investors in the company’s stock. I am talking about the thousands of people who are Ebay power sellers and make seven figures anor d more simply by selling items for more than they paid for them. Many operators of Ebay businesses now run large offices with employees and software — they’ve developed little business empires of their own. But, this gives me the opportunity to point out TTSOE Maxim #1:

Every person who makes more than $1,000,000 a year selling on Ebay got their start by selling one item to one person.

SaleHoo Logog

What I mean to say by this is that everyone who successfully sells items on Ebay, either for a living as an Ebay power seller or simply part time for additional income, started at the same place. They started at square one. So, regardless of how much you know about selling things for profit online or about Ebay or e-commerce, you know at least as much as the very first Ebay sellers who had to figure everything out as they went.

Luckily today selling on Ebay is a more mature business. There are a lot more services that help Ebay sellers make money and there are many more sources information for people who are looking to get started. That doesn’t, on the other hand, mean that it has becomeĀ easier to make money selling things on Ebay. Oh, no. Quite the opposite. Once the world started to see those first power sellers making eight figures a year out of their homes with, often times, little more than a PC, a telephone, and a paypal account, the field got quite a bit more crowded. But guess what? Today, and next year and the year after that, there will still be sellers who make millions of dollars selling things on Ebay. And there will millions of others who will simply supplement their income as a part time Ebay seller.

There is NO reason you can’t be one of the thousands making money selling things on Ebay

The main thing that has changed over the years, has been the arrival of “support” companies that enable the Ebay sellers, or sellers who sell anywhere online, to continue to make money. These support companies provide tools and resources that allow ordinary people access to top-notch products at wholesale prices (well below retail) that they can turn around and sell (also below retail) for a profit. That’s the beauty of the internet. The buyer gets the item cheaper than they could get it in Target and the seller makes a profit by selling it for more than he/she paid for it.

Back to these “support” companies. In the beginning, a seller had to find a wholesaler that would work with an Ebay seller, negotiate a price, purchase a bulk supply of some item (say Guess blue jeans), store the jeans somewhere, list them for sale on Ebay, and then mail them out to their buyers. But there were a lot of problems. For instance, there was no way for the seller to know if the wholesaler was legit; would they have to order thousands of jeans up front; would the jeans be defective; would the jeans be imitation knock-offs; would the jeans even show up; and if they did, would the seller be able to sell them all; would they be able to fetch a high enough price to make it worth their time and effort to go through all this in the first place?

Today, most of these issues have been erased as verified wholesale sourcing companies, the so-called “support” companies, have sprung to life. For instance, the company that I use and recommend, SaleHoo, is known as the leading wholesale directory online today. But to say it is a directory is to severely undersell it. SaleHoo is a complete source for online sellers that allows them to locate products at below wholesale prices, research the market to see what prices they can get for their items, get live support from an expert staff that can find you pretty much any product being produced at under-retail prices, and learn from the more than 75,000 Ebay sellers who use SaleHoo and participate in their community and forum.

SaleHoo is a must if you want to make money selling things online.

A Closer Look at SaleHoo

SaleHoo offers its subscribers the most in-depth directory of bulk wholesale suppliers, liquidators, drop shippers and direct importers that you will find online — trust me, I’ve tried the so-called competition. The SaleHoo wholesale source directory contains more than 8,000 wholesale suppliers offering more than twelve million items to Ebay sellers. And all, 100 percent, of these sources have been verified legit before they are ever included in the resource.

If you decide to try SaleHoo, you’ll get immediate access to:

  • Drop Shippers – Suppliers that package, record, and mail items to your buyers. You can order ONE item at a time until you are ready to expand.
  • Light Bulk Wholesalers – Wholesalers who sell packages of items for under $500.
  • Large Volume Wholesalers – Once you are ready to buy in bulk, you will enjoy super low costs per unit.
  • Liquidator Wholesalers – Liquidation auction items.
  • Instant Import Buys – Import products from countries all around the planet at bargain basement prices and without the red-tape of US Customs.

But, wait, let’s back up for a second.

Maybe this sounds interesting to you as a way to make some extra money. Maybe you could even see yourself developing your business to the point that it is your full time job. Great! I know you are probably excited and you should be. There are millions of people who make money selling online and, in order to join them, all you have to do is to be able to buy goods for less than you can sell them. And with a wholesale source that should be a snap… Right?

This brings us to TTSOE’s Maxim #2

The first rule of selling online is research, research, research. It’s ready, aim, fire. Once that works it’s ready, aim, FIREFIREFIREFIRE!

To succeed it is crucial that you not only obtain access to the best products at the lowest prices, but that you also obtain a comprehensive education to improve efficiency and maximize profits. It can get expensive to get an education on the fly. That’s why SaleHoo has proven to be the best support company for online sellers. They provide you with the education that you need to succeed.

As soon as you sign up you get access to five guides that, on their own, contain enough information to sell for a mint.

  • How to find profitable products to sell

Choose Wisely, Friend

First things first: SaleHoo is a bargain! It is $67 a year with a money back guarantee and you can quit at any time no question asked.

But, as I often mention, there are people who are literally gun shy when it comes to making business choices. They are literally afraid that they are going to be ripped off or that there is a better product that is much cheaper and they simply need to find that.

The decision to try SaleHoo is, of course, yours. But, as I am an expert in this area, I will give you a bit of information on the alternatives that are currently available. There are a few sources, which shall remain nameless, that retail for less than SaleHoo. However, these directories are chock full of “middlemen” rather than true wholesalers. Middlemen are markup specialists who buy from items from genuine wholesalers and resell them to retailers (YOU) at an increased price.

These middlemen websites will save you some money on the front end. However, in the long run you’re likely to miss out on the opportunity to profit in the thousands.

The VAST majority of companies that claim to be wholesale directories, charge more than SaleHoo. Some of these companies require thousands of dollars to get started. One competitor requires $300 upfront. But, these competing products are not, in any way, superior to the product that I use at SaleHoo. I’ve tried the others, early in my career, and I settled on SaleHoo because I thought it was the best product. Period.

See For Yourself

If you are not convinced, I invite you to visit the SaleHoo website. Look at the testimonials (under success stories) and take a look at all the features. When you consider what you have to gain monetarily and what you have to lose monetarily… It is a no-brainer.

So, go see for yourself. Join the rest of us in making money selling things on ebay, craigslist, and dozens of other marketplaces.

Lastly:

I make money selling things on ebay, craigslist and many other sites. It can be done. You can make money, you can even make a lot of money, doing this. However, if you think it will be easy or “set it and forget it” then I recommend that you go no farther. You will only succeed with this program if you are willing and able to spend time and devote energy to it. If you treat your online business like an actual business, you won’t be surprised when you start to see “real business” type of money beginning to come in.

But, if you want a get rich quick scheme, this is not it!

Find Products to Sell on eBay

To cut to the chase click here for my best money-making advice.

Using SaleHoo to Make Money with EbayAs a result of technology, many avenues are available for business-minded individuals to make money online. One of these time tested methods is selling products on EBay. For over a decade people have been profiting handily on Ebay. The only rule to success being to sell items for more than you paid for them. With this in mind, it naturally follows that those who have access to the best products at the cheapest prices can make the most money through Ebay. So the question becomes where can I find the best products to sell through Ebay?

There are several possibilities here. There is not one best way to source your products. If you wanted to start at the top, you could google “wholesale” and begin negotiating with any of the wholesaling operations that you find at the top of the listings. Unfortunately, this is not the most effective way to find reputable, and reputable is the key word, sources for wholesale products.

The key is to find a directory or list of approved and certified wholesalers offering a wide array of products at the best prices rather than simply trying random wholesalers. Notice that I said “approved and certified.” You want to find companies who are used to dealing with people who resell their merchandise online, specifically through Ebay.

What type of companies am I talking about? These companies fall into four general categories. There are liquidators, light wholesalers, bulk wholesalers, and importers. Each uses a distinct business model, though in reality they all do about the same thing. What they do is allow you to buy merchandise at a wholesale price (read well below retail) allowing you to turn around and sell the same product for a much higher price on Ebay. While this may sound like a hard-to-find arrangement, the fact is that these wholesalers have, for years, been doing just this sort of thing of millions of Ebay powersellers. And, some of these top power sellers have turned this type of business relationship into a net worth of millions of dollars.

So, again we return to our primary question: How do you find reputable wholesalers to enter into business with? There are several websites which sell lists of wholesalers that you can buy from anywhere between $50 and $1000. Sadly, most of these websites operate scam operations. The lists that they sell have not been approved and certified and many are in fact fly by night operations. ). So be careful. In this industry, more than just about any other, you get what you pay for. Expect to shell out at least one hundred dollars for a decent wholesale directory and be prepared to spend a few hundred to get lifetime access to one of the premier wholesaler sites — usually their is a membership fee of about $75/year to belong to a clearing house. So, if you get into the business of making money selling items on Ebay and do so for ten years, your out of pocket will be $750 for the decade. Obviously, since you can easily make that in a jiffy, it is a small cost of doing business that is entirely reasonable for most sellers.

Often when people decide to start selling on ebay they follow the all-too-familiar path. First, once they have decided they’d like a little extra income, they start auctions selling some of the excess items that they already own. They clean out their garages and attics and make a few bucks in the process. At this point, having tasted a little of the Ebay income, they realize that if they only had access to more stuff, more items to sell on ebay, they could make more money. Actually, they realize that they could make a lot more money!
Make Money Selling Things on Ebay

Typically, these folks go on to google something like “wholesaler for ebay” and end up going in on a $1000 order of spanish-language DVD’s or knock-off digital cameras. When their merchandise shows up late andĀ  in poor condition (or never shows up at all) they realize that this Ebay business might be a little trickier than they first imagined.

So they take the next step, they try to find a reputable wholesale source that can deliver top-notch products at can’t-beat-em prices. Again, there are a number of competitors. The prices range from a onetime fee of over four figures to a regular membership cost that you must pay every month, year, etc. I’ve toyed with nearly all of these “reputable” wholesale sources and found that there are really only two that have made me money. In fact, the two companies, SaleHoo and Worldwide Brands, pretty much now offer comprehensive services that teach people how to make money on Ebay or any site that sells that stuff. They are huge sites, chock full of information, help, forums with thousands and thousands of users, and professional support staffs that can answer your questions.

Just as a side note: I use and recommend SaleHoo without hesitation. I think, for the money, they are the best value as well as the best product.

If you are just starting to think about making money selling things online, then this can be a lot to take in. That’s because it is! If you are going to have a successful Ebay business, you are going to have to treat it like a business. That means there is going to be a lot of hours of learning and actual work involved!

Most people want instant riches without work. Even me. But if you’re a grown up, you understand that reality doesn’t work that way. The more you put into a project the more that you can get out of it. And the facts are plain: There are people making 8 figures a year selling products online. That didn’t just happen miraculously or by luck. It took a ton of work and determination. But everyone starts at the same point, and that is uncertainty and ignorance. They don’t know what will work, they don’t know what they are capable of, and they don’t want to be scammed.

I try to help people by explaining the process, but the fact is pretty simple. Some people are not cut out to work selling things on ebay. This is because there is risk involved. They have to spend money to get started and things may not turn out the way that they hoped. For people like this, I just advise them to find a steady career in government, say as a teacher, and enjoy their life. There is nothing wrong with making an average salary, and it is critical that a person do something that fits their personality.

For instance, SaleHoo, makes thousands of people thousands of dollars a year. The service costs $67/year with a full money back guarantee and the ability to quit at any time. But that amount of money, $67 a year, represents a huge psychological risk for many people. They are afraid they will ‘lose’ that money. I work online selling products and I don’t have this attitude. I understand that my business has expenses. This just makes sense to me. I spend hundreds of dollars a month on various tools and services. And I don’t think twice about this because it helps me make so much more.

But some people don’t experience risk this way. They want to achieve the same result and incur zero expenses. I am going to have to be the voice of reality here and tell you the truth: It takes money to make money. All businesses have expenses. All of them. The goal is to make a profit, which means that at the end of each month your revenue exceeds your expenses. And there are probably millions of people who run profitable internet businesses. And every single one of these people understand how business works.

But there are billions of people on the planet and most of them do not run their own business. And that’s okay. We need employees! But you need to be honest with yourself and decide which type of person you are. Are you someone who is willing to spend a quarter to make a dollar or are you the type of person who hesitates to risk their quarter, that they might lose money.

Because, honestly, making money selling items on Ebay isn’t rocket science. But if you don’t have the right personality, you’re not going to be successful. That’s okay. But it’s something that you need to become okay with.

So, now that I got that out of my system, let’s carry on with what this site is about: locating what to sell on ebay to make a profit.
